There was an ombré lip, a wet look that traversed from hair to make-up, and a shimmery new smoky eye with intense burgundy hues. Vogue picks the beauty trends you can steal from the runways of Amazon India Couture Week 2015.
EYES – Layer it up
There was drama—lots of it. From wild feathered lashes at Sabyasachi to equally intense smoky eyes at Rohit Bal—the eyes were stark standouts. This time around, the eyelash stole the spotlight as the mascara went from multiple layers for added drama to delicate swipes at Monisha Jaising. MAC’s Mickey Contractor also introduced a new hue to the smoky eye palette—a glittering burgundy at Manish Malhotra’s show.
LIPS – Nudes and noir
Bold—that was the trending lip on the runway. The Sabyasachi bride wore a deep plum, Anju Modi models sported bright corals and pinks with an ombré effect, and Monisha Jaising opted for a dark brick red. Juxtaposed with these dark puckers were soft, glossy nudes at Rohit Bal, Rahul Mishra and Varun Bahl. Couture week gave Indian brides two extreme options to choose from—dark verus soft; both equally appealing.
HAIR – Bun tales
Highlight of couture week hairdos was the wet look at Manish Malhotra and Rahul Mishra’s shows: the models walked the ramp in highshine, glossy hair, slicked back in a bun or let loose. Different moods of the bun were explored: from a soft, elegant side bun at Varun Bahl to a severe low-slung one at Sabyasachi—the updo prevailed.
