Meet the Shantanu & Nikhil bride

Shantanu & Nikhil

Shantanu & Nikhil’s Autumn/Winter'15 collection 'The Mahal' is inspired by the duo's journey to Jodhpur. The Jharoka architecture and colour palette of the desert is reflected in the new line. Vogue catches up with the designers as they launch the collection at the Vogue Wedding Show tomorrow.

What are your tips for brides-to-be?

The trousseau is very important for brides-to-be and must include a variety of styles that create an impact for all post wedding and cocktail evenings that follow thereafter. Start by knowing what suits your body contour and then experiment by mixing various elements to create a perfect trousseau solution. Focus on the right accessories by balancing it well and pair it correctly with your trousseau as this can create the magic—do keep it subtle though.

Who is the Shantanu & Nikhil bride?

The Shantanu & Nikhil bride is an independent thinker, extremely modernistic and a confident traveller. She is young, dynamic, and eternal and the perfect culmination of the novel and the classic.

What is the most versatile garment a bride must include in her trousseau?

One of the most romantic and glamourous silhouettes is surely the sari-gown. Since sari-gowns take the traditional sari form and juxtapose it with new techniques of drapery, this silhouette almost instantly works well for any cocktail evening.

Of all the brides you have dressed, who is your favourite?

Dia Mirza in a sublime lehenga for her reception is one our favourites. Genelia D'Souza’s pristine white ball gown for her very private church wedding is also very close to our hearts.
