The second day of BMW India Bridal Fashion Week saw three shows from designers Ashima Leena, Falguni and Shane Peacock and Tarun Tahiliani. Ashima Leena's 'Dakshana' collection was influenced by the south Indian drapes, classic indigenous fabrics and temple jewellery.
Falguni and Shane Peacock took to the romance of France for their bridal collection of cocktail gowns. The Swaorvski studded floor scrapers went from champagne to sun colours ending with black. Athiya Shetty and Sooraj Pancholi's ramp debut before their movie debuts was met with applause—Shetty's towering frame makes her a natural on the runway.
Tarun Tahiliani's 'Our Eclectic New World' came about from his understanding that as people move with fluidity through cyberspace and timelines, the clothes they don should follow with equal ease. His love for layering was carried out in fine tulles and organza to meet the designer's aim to create a line that epitomizes 'lightness'.
The palette of watercolour ivory, pale blues, peaches and pinks went into hardcore bridal tones in the red family. The lehengas went from agile cocktail to pure wedding attire, nowhere near modern bridal wear. That was until Lisa Haydon walked out as the golden bride carrying off her finale look like it were a pair of denim flares and no big bones about it.
Somewhere between muse, germination of the concept, and the couture, the cosmic set of LED planets and rustically arranged LED lights on the runway (which made great keepsakes) Tahiliani's New World emerged.
