Style evolution: Jacqueline Fernandez

Vogue

Smiling, skipping, pouting… Vogue India's July 2015 cover star has been photographed doing it all. And more often than not, Jacqueline Fernandez' sartorial choices clearly reflect her contagious, bubbly energy.

Fernandez' first years in Bollywood saw her in a staple of embellished dresses, sari hybrids and fitted jeans. Some of her most striking looks from 2011 and 2012: an ombré lace Gaurav Gupta sari, a mustard yellow Anand Kabra kurta and a black sequinned Amit GT gown at GQ's Men of the Year party.

Come 2013 Fernandez began taking to her playful side—going casual in wedge sneakers and drop crotch pants. For evenings on the red carpet, a slinky silhouette never failed the star. (You can't possibly forget that shocking pink Pernia Qureshi gown or her heart-print Lanvin). This was also a year of trying out new labels. Fans saw Fernandez in everything from feminine Shehlaa by Shehla Khan kurtas to a black and gold Nikhil Thampi gown—and even a regal Sabyasachi couture ensemble.

In the past year Fernandez' choices have only gotten bigger and brighter. 2014's best looks include a crimson Amit Aggarwal gown with multicoloured metallic details and a gold and ivory Anand Kabra look (a designer she keeps coming back to). As for 2015, the Anamika Khanna lehenga she wore to the IIFA Awards was among her best looks so far. Elegant and sexy, it was a combination you couldn't go wrong with.
