Lakmé Fashion Week is playing their strong cards as the fashion week completes 15 years this year. Earlier this month, news that Gaurav Gupta would close this season was out. And now, it is designer duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla who are set to open the fashion week with an innaugral offsite show.
With over two decades in the industry, they're one of the most renowned senior designers. Their clothes are often seen on the likes of everybody from the Bachchan family to Dame Judi Dench—and most recently on Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor.
Best known for their work in chikanri, zarodozi and the revival of Indian textiles, their labour-intensive garments portray an old world charm.
In a statement issued by the designers, they said, "We are absolutely thrilled to be back at Lakmé Fashion Week to open the upcoming celebratory season. This platform brings back many cherished memories for the both of us. Expect a befitting opening act, this season, as we reinvent the traditional to present an exciting, fresh take on fashion deemed fit for the youthful, modern day diva celebrating her harmonious, republican spirit."
And indeed, we await the spectacle to unfold before us.
