30 ways to wear pink

Anushka Menon/Vogue

It may be the colour of Barbie and candyfloss but pink doesn't always have to be super-girly. If you think hot pink only belongs on the lips and metallic pink should only be reserved for your nails, you're in for a surprise. Vogue shows you how to wear pink, in not one, or four but 30 different ways.

Wear it…

1. …as a soft wash of pale pink across eye lids.
2. …as a bright pink streak though a side braid.
3. …as fuchsia dip dyed ends on your ponytail.
4. …as a manicure pair—cotton candy as base and metallic glitter as top coat.
5. …as a bold cat eye wing.
6. …as a touch of gloss, paired with dark rimmed eyes and tons of mascara.
7. …as a pinky-gold highlighter; it's a subtle way to add structure to your face without contouring.
8. …as a french manicure–keep your base neutral and do pink tips instead of white.
9. …as a pale pink eye liner to make eyes look bigger—skip black kohl, wear this on on your waterline.
10. …as an ombre mouth. Fill your lips entirely with a deep pink hue and apply a shade of magenta only in the centre.
11. …as a bright mascara, swipe on neon pink on your lashes, skip eyeliner or kohl.
12. …as a bronzer—wear two shades of pink instead of a bronzer, lighter pink on the apple of the cheeks and one shade darker under your cheekbones to create sharper cheekbones.
13. …as a graphic liner. Switch things up by doing it in an interesting shape.
14. …as pastel pink hair extension; it’s a clever way to enjoy a temporary transformation.
15. …as a vivid pink eye shadow. Keep the rest of you look minimal with this bright eye.
16. …as a peachy pink lip colour and contrast it with a dark hued smoky eye—sweet and sultry!
17. …as nail art. Do a stripe on your nails by applying a soft pink base coat and a hot pink middle stripe on each nail.
18. …as part of a smoky eye, blend black with a metallic pink shimmer.
19. …as a sweet date night look—blend a sheer shimmery pink, with a magenta all over your lids.
20. …as an eye opener—dot a pale frosted pink highlighter on the inner corners of your eyes.
21. …a a pink smoky—blend two-three shades of pink from light to dark.
22. …as a champagne pink liner on the lower lash line for an ethereal effect.
23. …as a wet shadow for an intense, pigmented look. Dip a wet brush in your powder eye shadow and apply.
24. …as an ombre kohl eyeliner—on your bottom lid, draw a white pencil on your waterline from the inner corner to the centre, then bring in a fuchsia from the opposite direction, let the two lines meet in the middle.
25. …as an all over pink look. Use three different shades on 3 different features – matte magenta on lips, a wash of pale pink across the lids and pink glitter on nails.
26. …as a base for your cat eye. Fforget the matte browns and nudes, blend a pearly pink all over your eyelids, then draw cat eye wings in black.
27. …as a cheek tint to bring warmth and colour to your complexion.
28. …as a juicy pink tint on your lips for an au naturel look.
29. …as a berry pink lip tint. If you want to experiment with a bright lip but shy away from an intense colour, do a sheer berry instead.
30.  …as a happy pedi for the beach. Nothing spells summer more than neon pink on toes.
