7 rules to shop at a sale

Youtube

1. Spot a season-specific buy? Grab it!

Most often pieces that scream they belong to a particular show do not make for a smart investment. Admittedly, they are the ones that show up on every lust list and not holding that beloved piece makes you feel like you've fallen of the grid. But as time passes the novelty wears out,  and you'd rather avoid being seen with it everywhere.

However if all the stars align in your favour and said item is on sale, go ahead and buy it. At least you didn’t spend a crazy amount on it, right? And your 'precious' found its way home.

2. Sizing

If you are sample size you better line up for the sale or eveything that fits you will be gone in a blink! If you find something that you can't bear to part with, but is two sizes too wrong, don't buy it unless it's just a size bigger. Altering something that's just too big is not a fantasy, it's a horror movie.

3. Pay in cash

Just because it's marked down, doesn't mean you need it. If you like it, put your cash on it or else Bye Felicia!

4. Pile up on the basics

Jeans that fit well, white tees, tanks, jackets and flats are like little lego pieces that hold your wardrobe together. Most likely to be stuck in a corner where no wants to look is a goldmine. Stock up on these and you won't regret it.

5. Walk away from prints

Prints are the kryptonite of sales. Your gloat will turn into a moat of regret and loathing when everyone around town has the same dress as you and won't you hear us go, "We told you so!"

6. Dress smart

Sale shopping day is not a good day to take you new lace underwire out on a spin. Wear nude underwear and separates that are easy to get out of, to make your time in the trial room quick and efficient.

7. Play it safe
Pick up pieces from designers that you frequent. You will be fimiliar with the cuts and sizes and it never hurts to have more from your favourites.

Now that you are well versed with the rules, here are some sales you should not miss:
