From thigh slits to Jim Morrison—find out what the Atelier Versace Fall 2015 couture show was all about.
1. Who sat in the front row?
An Atelier Versace show is known to be packed with all the good looking people. Imagine the distraction of the attendees between on-runway supermodels like Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, Doutzen Kroes, Lara Stone, and Karlie Kloss (who opened and closed the show), and the off-runway supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Irina Shayk, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Natasha Poly. It's almost too tough to decide which way to look! Also, in attendance were Michelle Rodriguez and socialites Nicky Hiltona and socialite Lena Perminova.
2. Where was the show?
For the first time ever, Donatella Versace moved the show location from the original show space in the 8th Arrondissement to Palais Brongniart. The Italian fashion house took their iconic purple runway lighting to the next level—ornamenting the medusa backdrop with a variety of purple and orange flowers, the catwalk itself is also covered with various shades of petals.
3. What happened on the runway?
A heady mix of rock 'n' roll and '70s bohemia—the collection ticked all the right boxes—well-crafted, glamorous and unapologetically sexy. Corset-gown hybrids, lace suits and floral minidresses were seen on the runway. There may have been floral crowns but that didn't take away from the tough brazenness of the Atelier Versace girl.
4. Is there a new smokey eye to try?
Leave it to make-up artist extraordinaire, Pat McGrath, to create the perfect ethereal look. The legend behind every Versace's runway beauty applied the traditional smokey eye in contrast to the overall natural look. "We're doing it with pale shimmery greens" McGrath explained. It's much more romantic, but still tought. There's a little nod to rock 'n' roll."
5. What was the music like?
Jim Morrison's voice blasted "Out here we are stoned", transporting people back in time.
