29 times Bollywood got Indian ethnic right

We're only halfway into 2015, and already, Bollywood's leading ladies have showcased more than a handful of envy-inducing Indian ethnic ensembles. From classic drapes to modern silhouettes, it's all been worn with aplomb.

Saris

There's no way the world is tiring of India's six yard staple anytime soon. While Kangana Ranaut and Dia Mirza reinvented classic designs in acid colours, Sonam Kapoor and Rekha stuck with elegant pastels. Aditi Rao Hydari chose a quirky version spotted with polka dots and Shraddha Kapoor's was a leaf-printed sari.

Lehengas

For her wedding, Soha Ali Khan picked a pop pink Sanjay Garg, and sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan picked a Manish Malhtora. Making darker choices were: Neha Dhupia in a navy Payal Sinhal and Richa Chadda in SVA by Sonam and Paras Modi. Anushka Manchanda went kitsch in Manish Arora.

Anarkalis

They're dressy and comfortable: When it comes to red carpet dressing, anarkalis are a no-brainer. Katrina Kaif chose a mint green number, Bipasha Basu picked a Sabyasachi in olive and Deepika Padukone went powder blue.

New-age

Sridevi and Sonam Kapoor love their Anamika Khanna ensembles—and there's no mistaking those gen next silhouettes: Sridevi wore her dhoti-style skirt with a floor-skimming jacket, while Sonam Kapoor added a sheer version to hers. Lisa Haydon picked a black Tarun Tahiliani ensemble, perfect for a night out.
