23 times Bollywood wore pastels for weddings

Vogue

While bright colours will always pop at weddings, nothing beats the elegance that comes with ensembles in softer hues. Check out how these 18 Bollywood stars made a statement while going subtle.

Shades of ivory

Who says you can't wear white at night? Sonam Kapoor gave the classic white sari a regal spin in Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla, while Karisma Kapoor picked a sheer Manish Malhotra version for Rriddhi Malhotra's wedding reception. Alia Bhatt toned down her embellished lehenga by picking ivory, and Bipasha Basu dressed up the hue with a layered anarkali. More recently, Gauri Khan joined Manish Malhotra in Venice for Riya Khilnani's wedding wearing a snowy kurta by the designer.

Baby pinks

Embroidered with dusky rose blooms, Shraddha Kapoor's Manish Malhotra ensemble at Tulsi Kumar's wedding was a great example of how to wear a  subdued pink. For her brother's wedding, Sonakshi Sinha picked a slightly brighter lehenga, more appropriate for a night of partying.

Mint greens and powder blues

Worn with a bright red dupatta, Anushka Sharma's Sabyasachi kurta is amongst her best Indian looks so far. Other winners: Kareena Kapoor Khan in a mild jade sari (and then again in a Manish Malhotra for Soha Ali Khan's wedding), Malaika Arora Khan in a baby blue Sonaakshi Raaj sari and Huma Qureshi's Prathyusha Garimella lehenga.

Earthy hues

The best thing about shades of champagne? They're neutral enough to work at any occasion. Sridevi was a sight to behold in her Manish Malhotra sari, followed by Shilpa Shetty in an anarkali gown complemented with green jewels.
