15 celebrities in shades of yellow

Vogue

Be it powder pale, bright canary or rich mustard—shades of yellow are taking over red carpets worldover and are undeniably big this season. See how your favourite Bollywood and Hollywood stars wore versions of this sunshine hue.

Powder pale

Sonam Kapoor's feather-detailed Elie Saab gown at Cannes had the meme market exploding for days. Whether you're a fan or not, there's no denying that a soft colour like that is easy on the eyes.

Picking a simpler look, Kangana Ranaut paired her baby yellow Rosie Assoulin gown with bright red lips. However, the best Bollywood look of the lot had to be Kareena Kapoor Khan in a subtly-embellished Roberto Cavalli gown, worn with barely-there make-up and sleek locks.

Internationally, Jennifer Hudson's Romona Keveza gown from the Golden Globes painted an elegant picture.

Bright canary

The surest way to add a zing of colour to your monsoon wardrobe: a bright yellow ensemble. Aditi Rao Hydari's Manish Malhotra anarkali made a strong case for head-to-toe yellow, while Shraddha Kapoor's strapless Philipp Plein number was fun, girly and fresh. Malaika Arora Khan paired her yellow Hugo Boss jacket with printed leggings to keep the bright colour in check.

While both, Charlize Theron and Taylor Swift picked strapless gowns in bright sunflower hues, Kate Middleton worked the colour into her look in a more subtle fashion: her Jenny Packham dress was printed with cascading yellow blooms.

Rich mustard

One thing is for certain: Rihanna sure knows how to stand out. At this year's Met Gala, the musician stepped onto the runway draped in an Guo Pei Couture cape that had her on every Best Dressed list that week. Picking a similar shade of yellow was Neha Dhupia in a simple yet striking Payal Khandwala maxi.
