5 steps to summer happy feet

You know summer is officially here when you see floral strappy sandals, bejewelled flats and fringe slip-ons doing their rounds. Drawing attention to your sans-pedi feet of the winter, it's time to prep your toes for some major sun exposure.

SOAK IT UP: Throw in a handful of bath salts in a tub with lukewarm water and your favourite scented oil to give yourself spa-like pampering at home. Relax, sit back and flip through your favourite magazine, dip your feet in and let them soak for 10-15 minutes. For the ultimate pampering session try the Forest Essentials Bath and Shower Oils and the Leighton Denny Foot Soak.

SCRUB IT OFF: Combine relaxation with exfoliation with the Nature's Co Walnut Mint foot scrub; the mint invigorates, while the medicinal neem works to moisturize and soften your feet. Massage each foot for a minute or two and then rinse with warm water. For cracked skin, we recommend the Dr Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi.

MASK IT: Foot masks are miracle workers—they nourish, hydrate and soothe tired skin and prepare your feet to be shown off in summer's strappiest pair. The next weekend, when you're putting on a mask on your face, show some TLC to your feet and slather on a thick layer—the longer you leave on, the better. We like the intensely nourishing Body Shop Peppermint Purifying foot mask.

NOURISH IT: Time to show your soles a little extra lovin'. Massage a generous amount of an intensively hydrating foot moisturizer like Burt's Bees Honey and Bilberry Foot Lotion—it softens calluses and gives your feet a pretty glow with jojoba butter and rosemary extract.

TINT IT: The cherry on the happy feet cake? An equally happy pedi. Swipe on summer's hottest nail lacquers —we're talking hot pink, electric purple, juicy tangerine—and don't forget to seal the deal with UV protection top coats.
