Summer hairstyles to steal

We love summer for all the pool party invitations it brings, but let's be honest the rising temperatures and humidity aren't doing anything for our hair. If you love your hair sleek and frizz-free, summer can be quite challenging. But don't give up just yet and pile it up in a knot, take a cue from these celebrities for styles that help you stay cool and stylish for summer.

Vogue tells you how to handle hair, even when the weather is against you.

Do an updo: Whether sleek and sophisticated or funky and relaxed, updos definitely help beat the heat. They are perfect for those long, hot summer days when having your hair tied up is your utmost priority (followed by sipping margaritas on the beach). The easiest 'do to do works on all hair textures, here's how—pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with a band. Then wrap your hair around the band and secure it with bobby pins and you're done. Pull a few strands out for a more undone look. To upgrade an updo, weave in a milkmaid braid, don a bright headband or add a sparkly hair accessory.

Braids: From the side plaits, messy and fishtail braids to old school twists, this tress trend never goes out of style. Easy and fuss free, braids are practical and perfect for those who want to go off heat styling and keep hair off your neck. No one said braids have to be boring—get creative with bejeweled hairpins, colourful clips, or add coloured highlights.

Beach waves: Loose, carefree, beach waves have earned their place as the staple summer style. You can achieve this easy, relaxed look sans the seawater by using the right products and tools. Spritz a sea salt or texturizing spray through damp hair and wrap uneven sections around a curling wand. The more haphazardly you curl, the more natural the result. Rake your fingers through the waves to open up and loosen the curls.
