You're at Terminal 5 of the Heathrow airport and you see...the Statue of Liberty. Think you're on the wrong side of the Atlantic? In London for this June, and this June only, the lady, having undergone a complete cosmetic transformation, stands tall in the British captital.
Lady in Red
To celebrate the launch of the airport's first International Lipstick Colours of the Year report (which lists trending lipstick shades from 50 destinations in the world), a two-storey-high replica of one of the most iconic landmarks, Lady "Liperty" (as they're calling it) was created entirely out of actual red lipstick. The 20-feet-tall red installation, the classic colour dedicated to New York, took a team of sculptors, engineers and makeup artists over 240 hours to complete.
The month-long showcase will also have a range of regular-sized lipsticks hand-carved in the shape of iconic attractions, by micro-sculptor Hedley Wiggan. These include Dubai's Burj Khalifa in Rose Pink, Paris' Eiffel Tower in Dusky Rose, London's Big Ben in Caramel Nude, Shanghai's eponymous tower in Sheer Coral and New York's Statue of Liberty in Bright Red.
