CABANA TO LAUNCH POP-UP: Cabana, the luxury lifestyle and design magazine launched by Martina Mondadori last year, will open its first pop-up store at Miart, the Milan-based contemporary and modern art trade show, to be inaugurated on April 9 by invitation only and then open to the public April 10 to 12. “The opening of a pop-up store is a kind of natural consequence for a project like Cabana,” said Mondadori, who is editor-in-chief of the biannual magazine. “We realized that both the private and public spaces we shoot for Cabana are not only extremely charming but are also full of stuff, layered with fragments of real life, filled with things ranging from contemporary art pieces to objects found at flea markets – to make a long story short, the exact opposite of minimal interior design.” In keeping with the magazine’s editorial philosophy, the pop-up store, which Mondadori described as “a hybrid between a bazaar and a cabinet of curiosities” and which will be covered with an exclusive Pierre Frey wallpaper, will carry a wide selection of pieces, spanning from antiquities to items created on purpose by artisans or objects selected from already existing collections.
