1. Base: Start with the liquid base for your blend. Pour milk, water, nut milks, or coconut water into your blender. 1-2 cups
2. Add fruits/greens: Choose a combination of your favourite fruits. If you're making a green smoothie, pair kale, spinach or lettuce with a fruit to add sweetness. 2 cups of chopped fruits or 1 cup of greens + 1 cup of chopped fruit
3. Plus protein: Add a heaped spoonful of protein powder or nut butter. If you have a powerful enough blender, toss in a handful of whole nuts instead of protein powder. Skip this step if you're using milk or nut milks as your smoothie base. 1 tbsp protein powder/nut butter or 10 nuts
4. For flavour: Amp up the flavour with herbs or spices. Mint, cinnamon and basil are failsafe flavour boosters. ½ cup chopped herbs or 1 tsp spice
5. Final booster: Finish your smoothie with superfoods like chia seeds, maca, goji or acai berries, spirulina or bee pollen to make it extra healthy. 2 tsp superfood
