FRENCH BLUE: First they took Manhattan. And now denim entrepreneur Scott Morrison and business partner Eric Rothfeld have conquered Paris. The executives hosted a lunch in the French capital Thursday to mark the opening of a men’s shop-in-shop at Le Bon Marché for their 3×1 brand, a companion to the women’s area that opened at the same Left Bank specialty store last fall. Over pea soup and seared tuna, Rothfeld related how he could see the three-year-old brand ultimately expand to as many as 25 boutiques worldwide, with Los Angeles, Miami, Tokyo and Milan among “logical” capitals, given that they shelter enough sewing talent to support its custom and bespoke-driven concept. Morrison said roughly 60 percent of the business at its SoHo flagship is custom and bespoke thanks to an on-site factory. The percentage is lower in satellite operations, which are soon to include Southampton, N.Y.’s Main Street, opening this summer, as reported.
