DALLAS — Textured knits, sportswear in mixed fabrics and artistically printed dresses topped orders at the four-day fall show ended Saturday at the Dallas Market Center. The apparel and accessories show presented the greatest number of resources in the past decade, according to Cindy Morris, chief operating officer of the Dallas Market Center. “Holding the Total Home & Gift Market at the same time also generated unmatched buying and selling opportunities serving stores from all 50 states and internationally,” Morris said. Popular silhouettes included flirty flare skirts and dresses, flowy “date” tops, reversible outerwear, robe coats, capes, and leather motorcycle and straight-zipper “Nascar” jackets, according to sales representatives. “Knitwear is king for fall,” said Gregor Simmons, principal of her namesake New York buying office. “It’s comfortable and it’s an easy way to freshen up a wardrobe. What has slowed down is generic contemporary, while elevated contemporary is exploding, like Sachin + Babi.” Among her favorite sweater lines were 525 America, Isy & Ki, and Luxe, a new, higher-end label by Lisa Todd, Simmons noted.
