The new blocks on the block

Vogue India/Rohan Hande

Block printing no longer needs to be a resident of your mom's closet—or era, for that matter. Youthful, unique and downright quirky, Vogue singles out 3 emerging labels that have changed the face of this ancient Indian printing technique.

Seventeen05

Designers: Roxanne Captain with husband Mehernosh Captain launches the label Seventeen05 (Roxanne's birth date) today.
Look: Minimal, laidback and chic pieces in lightweight fabrics, these are clothes that breathe.

Jodi

Designers: Stylists-turned-designers Karunga Laungani and Gauri Verma's line of colourful separates is a far cry from clichéd block prints.
Look: Geometric and floral layered prints in bold hues mixed with traditional fabrics, these pieces let you embrace the goodness of colours.

Unees Bees

Designers: Ankita Brahmbhatt, the creative behind Unees Bees mixes tie-dye and hand block printing to create unique pieces that seek beauty in imperfections.
Look: These quirky and fun prints can be worn on both, western separates and saris alike.

Brands used: Aldo, Christian Louboutin, Diesel, Gas, H&M Conscious, Jodi, Kenneth Cole, Knockaround, Seventeen05, Steve Madden, Tod's, Unees Bees, Zara.
