How to humidity proof your hair

The Indian summer means the monsoon is just 'round the corner, and for most, it usually sparks the beginning of the great battle—hair v/s the elements. At the first sign of humidity, even the sleekest of manes unravel into an unruly state emblematic of our cave-dwelling predecessors.

But thankfully it's 2015 and haircare has come a long way—with a few simple steps, say goodbye to your halo of frizz and hello to a good hair day—everyday!

The problem

When exposed to humid conditions, dry hair often soaks up moisture causing it to swell and the cuticles along the strands to split; resulting in frizz. But it isn't just dry hair that's fated to frizz, chemical or heat damaged locks can be porous enough to see the same outcome.

The solution?

For dry hair, load up on a deep conditioner after you shampoo—leaving it on for at least a few minutes while you stand in your hot shower cubicle. The heat will allow the nourishing benefits to penetrate deep into the strands.

With curls, it's especially important to avoid rubbing the lengths when drying off hair; it can cause breakages which lead to unruly flyaways so just blot hair dry between your towel instead. And finally, along with a heat-protecting spray before styling, be sure to finish up with 2-3 pumps of an anti-frizz serum to smooth down cuticles, particularly on oily or damaged hair.
