VERSACE GOES BIG IN CHINA: Versace is towering over China. The Italian fashion brand is set to announce a new partnership in Beijing Thursday with the Mind Group, a Chinese firm specialized in the promotion of traditional Chinese culture; real estate development; financial leasing; eco-agriculture, and fund investment. Together, the companies are presenting the Versace Residences, a 68-floor building over 720 feet tall, with home units ranging from about 1,614 square feet to 4,305 square feet. Located in southwestern Chengdu and conceived by Versace artistic director Donatella Versace, the luxury residences will blend Versace Home’s Italian craftsmanship and style with elements borrowed from local heritage. The project is slated for completion in 2017, and individual units will be for sale starting at the end of this year. In celebration of the project, Versace chief executive officer Gian Giacomo Ferraris will attend a special signing ceremony tomorrow at Beijing’s Waldorf Astoria hotel. Versace has a well-established presence in the world luxury residences: previous projects include the Milano Residences in Manila, the Damac Tower in Beirut, and the Damac Residences in Jeddah. – Cynthia Martens
