Swarovski turns 120

Swarovski

The Austrian town Wattens has earned its spot on travel guides courtesy the Swarovski Kristallwelten, popularly known as the Swarovski Crystal Worlds to its visitors who curiously navigate its 14 circuitous chambers.

Swarovski crystals are widely consumed in the fashion industry as a premium creative material for surface embellishments. Complementing the Swarovski sparkle were the guests who attended the twin celebration marking the 120th anniversary of the brand—and the reopening of the Kristallwelten.

The brand brought in designer friends such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Mary Katrantzou, Iris Van Herpen, Peter Pilotto—and Rodarte, in attendance by way of FKA Twigs' look for the evening. The guest-list for the night also included fashion photographer Nick Knight and jewellery designer Stephen Webster.

While Swarovski Musik Wattens, the Tyrolean musical ensemble established by Daniel Swarovski in 1900 were the live soundtrack for the occasion, the highlight was an impromptu performance by British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs.

Evenings like these shine brighter when celebrated in museums that take you to worlds of fantasy.
