LONE STARS: Fashion Group International’s Dallas Chapter spotlighted six industry entrepreneurs last week at its annual Rising Stars awards program. Attracting 400 to a cocktail party on the ice rink of Galleria Dallas, FGI Dallas named Lucy Dang the Rising Star of fashion for her feminine dresses and Megan Thorne as the standout in jewelry. The program also honored Dr. Naila Malik for beauty, Brandon Lyon for photography, Brant McFarlain for interior design and Shayema Rahim for art, while jewelry designer Shona Gilbert won the People’s Choice prize. Shoppers gathered on balconies overlooking the rink to watch runway shows of the three Rising Star fashion nominees – Binzario Couture, Ese Azenabor and Dang – as well as presentations by Galleria tenants Nordstrom, Macy’s, Karen Millen and BCBG. Galleria Dallas underwrote the event, and all proceeds will benefit FGI’s scholarship program.
