Day four of Amazon India Couture week saw four Bollywood showstoppers and elaborate sets. Here's a list of the unmissable happenings.
1. Shows: Day four saw shows by designers Rimple and Harpreet Narula, Reynu Tandon, Debarun and Rohit Bal.
2. Showstoppers: Shilpa Shetty walked the ramp for Rimple and Harpreet Narula. Chitrangada Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari walked for Debarun and Richa Chadda for Reynu Tandon.
3. Inspirations: Rimple and Harpeet Narula went the vintage route taking inspiration from the time of maharajas, while Debarun showed glimpses of decades of Indian cinema on the ramp. Rohit Bal blended renaissance fashion with Kashmiri influences.
4. Special Effects: Rimple and Harpreet Narula recreated a vintage photobooth on the runway. The models posed for imaginary portraits through the show. Rohit Bal's 'Husn –e – Taa'iraat' show was part garden of Eden, part clothing presentation from the 1900s—the live cello and piano music, champagne and fresh flowers and fruit-laden trees made for a memorable evening.
5. Details: Drawing references from Shikarga carpets, Rohit Bal's collection ventured away from florals to animal motifs. The level of craftsmanship in each separate piece is enough to add all the statement you need to put out in a day.
6. Guests: Rohit Bal's show was packed with known names including Suhel Seth, Koel Puri, Chhaya Momaya, Rajeev Sethi, Kalyani Chawla, Ritu Kumar, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, amongst others.
7. Beauty at Rohit Bal: The look for the night was dark-smokey eyes and glossy lips. The hair was pinned in waves recreating the classic flapper updo.
8. Location: Rohit Bal's show took place at The Imperial Hotel in Delhi—A Lutyen's property with victorian and colonial art that helped time travel to a different era and set you in the right mood for the show. As the designer himself quoted "The clothes lend themselves to the venue".
9. Moodboard: Bal described his couture 2015 moodboard as "beauty in chaos—an unbelievable balance in nature".
10. The quotable: Bal's press release quotes Auguste Rodin: "The main thing is to be moved, to love, to hope, to tremble, to live."
