WASHINGTON — The Commerce Department said Tuesday it will host a Webinar in early April where Mexican government officials plan to explain the country’s new textile and apparel import regulations to U.S. companies that have grown increasingly concerned about the impact the rules will have on their businesses. Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel will host a Webinar on April 8 with officials from the Mexican Ministry of Economy and the Tax Administration Service. “After working closely with our colleagues across U.S. agencies and in the Mexican government, we are pleased to be able to provide this opportunity for our stakeholders to learn more about the recently published textile and apparel regulations in Mexico,” said Joshua Teitelbaum, deputy assistant secretary for textiles, consumer goods and materials at the Commerce Department and chairman of the interagency Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements. The Webinar will “provide valuable information about the textile and apparel decree announced by the Mexican government in December,” the agency said, adding that the Mexican officials plan to explain “key aspects” of the new textile and apparel decree and host a question-and-answer session at the end of the Webinar.
