In lingerie, sometimes there’s a fine line between what’s edgy and what’s raunchy. Bex NYC sets its own boundaries. The gender-bending lingerie and accessories collection is aggressively sexy yet playful, with masculine details incorporated into sexy feminine silhouettes, like suspenders as bra straps instead of the usual elastic, or men’s pinstripes on bustier panels. “I love playing with men’s wear. It’s definitely how I dress,” said founder Rebecca Szymczak. Bex NYC just crossed another threshold. After only a year-and-a-half in business and about $100,000 in wholesale revenues, the company was purchased from Szymczak last week by USA Apparel Group, which designs and markets products under licensed and owned brands and the private labels of retail clients. With the deal closed, Szymczak has moved her office from her Chelsea apartment to USA Apparel offices at 183 Madison Avenue, and has the title of creative director. There’s also the opportunity to increase production and distribution of her collection, with manufacturing headed overseas after being situated in New York City. “I was limited to small production runs, selling boutiques, and a small online distribution,” said the 32-year-old Szymczak. “Now we are having meetings with department stores and large Web sites.” Regarding the brand message, Szymczak
