Purple, Vionnet Host Dinner at Castel

With the fashion crowd heading to Castel for a dinner hosted by Purple and Vionnet, things were always going to be wild — starting with the phallic-designed carpet. “I just noticed the carpet,” laughed Erin O’Connor. “I was just saying, ‘What a lovely carpet!’ It’s very Parisian, I feel. Pourquoi pas?” The model — not long back from maternity leave — will be making a Paris runway turn next week, but remained mum on details. Guests spilled over every floor of the club, where cohost Goga Ashkenazi, Vionnet’s creative director, revealed she’s looking forward to opening the brand’s first Paris store on Rue François 1er in September — with openings elsewhere in Europe and Asia after that. On the ground floor, Paris’ “It” girl du jour, Jeanne Damas, disclosed she’s just signed an ambassador contract with Gucci for France starting at the Cannes Film Festival. “I’m like a friend of the house; it’s not campaigns,” she said. Next up for Damas is a move to London. “My apartment burned down, so while the work’s going on, I’m heading to Shoreditch,” she said. Across the hallway, actress Paz de la Huerta showed off images of her lesser-known talent, painting white tigers, and said she’ll next be shooting
