BucketFeet Opens Nolita Store

BucketFeet has opened its first permanent retail site, in the NoLIta section of Manhattan. The store is located at 266 Elizabeth Street, and will be open to the public beginning on Saturday. BucketFeet, which calls its stores “studios,” previously had a temporary site in SoHo. The stores carry items that are sold online for men’s, women’s and children’s footwear, as well as socks and art prints. The company has garnered the attention of venture capitalists due to its authenticity in the artwork and design of its footwear, incorporating ways for customers to connect with the artists behind each shoe design. A new artist takes over each month, giving the site and retail space a different look on a continual basis. While hand-designed shoes from a rotating set of artists are part of BucketFeet’s story, the NoLIta space also features limited-edition wall prints from select artists and will incorporate a changing wall mural painted by a new artist each month. Cofounded by Raaja Nemani, who serves as the company’s chief executive officer, BucketFeet raised $7.5 million in a Series A round of funding last month.
