Ex-Luxottica Chief Tipped for Milan Mayor Candidacy

MILAN — Andrea Guerra, the former chief executive officer of Luxottica Group SpA, was listed by Italy’s La Repubblica newspaper on Monday as one of the possible candidates to succeed Giuliano Pisapia, mayor of Milan. On Sunday, Pisapia revealed that he would not run for a second term beginning in 2016. Last fall, Pisapia was said to have offered Guerra a role as city representative on the board of Milan’s prestigious Bocconi University. In December last year, Guerra was appointed senior strategic adviser for business, finance and industry to Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. Guerra, who left Luxottica in September, was part of Renzi’s entourage during his recent trip to Australia for the G20 meeting and is expected to function as a liaison with the industrial world, zoom in on problematic situations and offer solutions. Guerra is also a member of the steering committee of Strategico Italiano SpA, the holding controlled by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), a joint-stock company under public control. Kerry Washington, Roland Emmerich Win Big at GLAAD Media Awards

The 26th annual GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday doled out rhodium statuettes to actress Kerry Washington and director Roland Emmerich, as well as “The Imitation Game” and television shows “Transparent” and “How To Get Away With Murder,” for creating accurate depictions of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. Comedienne Tig Notaro hosted the event at the Beverly Hilton, which included guests and presenters Ellen DeGeneres, Zoe Saldana, Channing Tatum, Portia de Rossi, Shonda Rhimes, Patricia Arquette, and Viola Davis and raised over $350,000 for the organization. Said DeGeneres, “This is the largest gathering of gay people in one room since yesterday. Thank you all for attending our annual meeting. Let me just go over some notes from our last one. Bring back short shorts. Check. Recruit Chris Hemsworth. Still working on that.” Things got more serious, as they usually do, when Washington took the stage. “There’s so much power in story telling.
