10 things to know from day three of AICW

Anju Modi, Monisha Jaising and Varun Bahl showed their latest collections on day three of Amazon India Couture Week. As the evening progressed the energy and production levels for each show went higher and higher. Here's what happened in Delhi yesterday:

1. Stories: Anju Modi's presentation titled 'Kashish' was inspired by Persian folklore. Her work reflected influences of miniature paintings and a quote by Rumi in the press note tied the stories together.

2. Sets: Monisha Jaising transformed the runway into a luxury yacht—complete with chiseled seamen checking on the sunbathing models. Varun Bahl's show titled 'Song of the flower' was a floral extravagance. Bahl converted a private residence into an opulent show area—with roses descending from the roof and lining the runway as well.

3. Celebrity quotient: Pernia Qureshi opened Monisha Jaising's show and Kriti Sanon closed it. Janisaar actor Imran Abbas attended the show. Kalyani Saha and designers Rajesh Pratap Singh and Anand Bhushan were some of those also seen at Monisha Jaising and Varun Bahl.

4. Weddings: Varun Bahl launched 'Aurum,' an extension of his brand that ventures into events and luxury weddings.

5. Beauty: The look at the Anju Modi presentation was romantic with soft updos, red lips and fresh flowers in the hair. Monisha Jaising's sailing bride was the glam Amazonian with dark lips and blow-dried hair.

6. Prep time: Varun Bahl's production team started working on the sets and show décor a month ago. The installation of the set went on for a week.

7.Backstage: Models got the Monisha Jaising treatment while getting ready for the show—each got a bright pink satin lounging robe.

8 Sneakers: The bride wore embellished sneakers at Monisha Jaising. While the designer confirmed these were just for the modern bride, keep them handy incase you choose to elope.

9. Clothes: Anju Modi's intricately detailed collection can be styled with separates. Monish Jaising's gowns are perfect for destination weddings or as eveningwear. Varun Bahl's couture collection was ready to go from the staged wedding to a real one.

10. Party: Varun Bahl closed day three of Amazon India Couture Week but the party continued for several hours. Cocktails served at the venue were courtesy of South Delhi's favourite bar-PCO and a buffet (complete with Italian to dim sums and Indian dishes) were courtesy FIO. If that didn't get you on your feet, the live percussion set most definitely did.
